Student privacy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This page explains how Figure Fruit treats students who use the site in a classroom. It is written for teachers, parents and school technology staff. The general privacy policy covers everyone else.
In short: in Classroom Mode, Figure Fruit does not collect, store, share or sell any personal information about students.
What Classroom Mode is
Classroom Mode is a setting that a teacher turns on by opening a Figure Fruit link that ends in ?classroom=1. It stays on for the rest of that browser tab’s session. A banner at the top of each page confirms that it is on.
What does not happen in Classroom Mode
- Students are never asked for a name, an email address, a birthday or any other personal detail.
- No account can be created, and no one can sign in, including with Google.
- No advertising or advertising cookies are loaded.
- No analytics, tracking pixels or behavioral profiling tools are used. Figure Fruit does not use them anywhere on the site.
- No scores, answers or game results are sent to Figure Fruit. Leaderboards and live matches are turned off.
- No student data is sold, rented, shared or used for marketing.
What does happen
- Game progress stays on the student’s own device. A game may save a student’s streak or the current day’s progress in the browser’s local storage so that a refreshed page does not lose it. This information never leaves the device, and it contains no name or other identifier. Clearing the browser’s site data removes it.
- The page files are downloaded from our hosting provider, Netlify. As with any website, the host receives the visitor’s IP address and browser type in order to deliver the page, and it may keep standard server logs for security and reliability. Figure Fruit does not use these logs to identify or follow individual students.
- Fonts are downloaded from Google Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google’s font service, which receives the visitor’s IP address and browser type to deliver the font files. We do not send Google anything else, and we do not use Google Fonts to track students.
- World Tour loads a world map and country flags from jsDelivr. These are fixed, public image and map files served by a content delivery network. Like any file request, loading them reveals the visitor’s IP address and browser type to jsDelivr. No student information is sent, and we do not use the requests to identify or follow anyone.
COPPA, FERPA and state laws
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) restricts the collection of personal information from children under 13. In Classroom Mode, Figure Fruit collects none, so parental consent is not needed for a student to play. Figure Fruit does not receive education records, so the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is not triggered by students using the site in Classroom Mode, and Figure Fruit does not need to act as a school official.
Many states also have student privacy laws that apply to operators of educational sites. Because no student data is collected in Classroom Mode, we believe those obligations have nothing to attach to. Districts are free to review this page and to ask us for a written statement or a completed vendor questionnaire.
This page describes our practices. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace your district’s own review.
Outside Classroom Mode
If a student opens Figure Fruit without Classroom Mode, the regular site rules apply. Accounts and leaderboards are limited to people aged 13 and older, and the sign-up form asks users to confirm that they meet that requirement. Students under 13 should not create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, email team@figurefruit.com and we will delete it promptly.
Parents
You may ask us at any time what we know about your child, ask us to delete it, or tell us that your child has used the site without your permission. Email team@figurefruit.com. If your child’s class uses Figure Fruit, the teacher has most likely used Classroom Mode, and there is nothing to delete.
Changes
If we change this page, we will update the date at the top. We will not begin collecting student information in Classroom Mode without first giving teachers and schools clear notice on this page.
