How to play Dump-it
Dump-it is a category brain-dump. You get one category, like “Rock bands” or “Pizza toppings”, and 60 seconds to pin up as many answers as you can.
Solo
- Read the category, then press Start. The 60-second clock begins.
- Type an answer and press Enter. If it counts, it lands on the board as a sticky note.
- A wrong answer or a typo costs you nothing but time. Try again.
- When time runs out you see your score, how you compare with other players, and a few answers you missed.
Scoring
- Common answers are worth 10 points. Rare answers are worth 25 and get a ★ on the note.
- Rarity belongs to the answer in that category. A band can be rare in one category and common in another.
- Aliases and plurals count, so “CCR” and “Creedence Clearwater Revival” are the same answer. Each answer scores once.
Ways to play
- Today’s Daily: one category for everyone, one play per day. It counts for the leaderboard and your monthly rank.
- Casual: pick any category, as often as you like. It never counts for the leaderboard.
- Head to head: tap Find a match for a random opponent, or make a room and share the 4-letter code. Both players get the same category and take turns, one answer each. You have 10 seconds per turn. Run out of time and you take a strike. Three strikes and you are out, and the last player standing wins.
In a match, an answer already on the board can’t be used again. Your opponent’s notes show in a different color. Daily head to head is for fun and does not count for the daily leaderboard.
Was your answer right?
If a real answer isn’t recognized, tap Should it count?. We review suggestions and add the good ones.
Tips
- Go broad first, then dig for the rare ones near the end.
- Think in groups: for bands, try decades, countries and genres.
- In a match, save a safe answer for when you are stuck.
