How to play Solve-It
Solve-It is a mental math game. You get quick sums, the kind you can do in your head, and 60 seconds to answer as many as you can.
How a day works
- You play three sprints of 60 seconds: Easy, Medium and Hard. Everyone gets the same questions that day.
- Type your answer on the number pad (or your keyboard). It checks itself as soon as you have typed enough digits, or press GO.
- A right answer moves you to the next question straight away. A wrong answer shakes, clears the box and resets your streak. You stay on the same question, and the clock keeps running.
- After each sprint you see your result, a trick of the day, and the question you missed with a quicker way to solve it.
What the levels feel like
- Easy: small numbers. Things like 8 + 7, 20 ÷ 5 or □ + 6 = 14.
- Medium: two-digit sums, times tables, fractions and percents. Things like 47 + 38, 9 × 13 or 3/4 of 48.
- Hard: bigger numbers and more steps. Things like 23 × 14, 1000 − 367, 15% of 240 or 84 ÷ 7 + 9 × 5.
Every answer is a whole number, and every question has a shortcut that makes it easy in your head.
Scoring and the streak bonus
- A right answer earns 10 points on Easy, 20 on Medium and 30 on Hard, multiplied by your streak bonus.
- Streak bonus: ×1 to start, ×2 at 3 right in a row, ×3 at 6, ×4 at 10 and ×5 at 15.
- A wrong answer drops you back to ×1. It never takes away points you have already earned.
- Your streak carries from one sprint into the next, so a long run into Hard is worth a lot.
- Your day score is the total of all three sprints. Higher is better.
Three ways to play
- Today’s Daily: one play a day, the same questions for everyone. It counts for the leaderboard and your monthly rank.
- Daily head to head: tap Find a match to be paired with a random player who is searching at the same moment, or make a room and share the 4-letter code (or invite link) with a friend. You both play today’s daily questions at the same time and see each other’s score live. If you have not played your daily yet, the match counts as your daily play.
- Casual: unlimited rounds with fresh random questions. Pick Easy, Medium or Hard, then play solo, tap Find a match for a random opponent at the same level, or use a room code with a friend. It is one sprint, and casual never counts for the leaderboard.
If nobody else is searching, you can keep waiting, turn the search into a room code to invite a friend, or play solo. Matches show names only, with no chat.
Leaderboard and accounts
You can play without an account, and your score still counts toward the daily percentile. To appear on the leaderboard, sign in or create a free Figure Fruit account. The same account works in every Figure Fruit game. The daily puzzle changes at midnight US Eastern time. If you reload the page in the middle of a sprint, the clock keeps running.
Tips
- Round and fix: 47 + 38 is the same as 47 + 40 − 2.
- Times 5 is half of times 10. Times 9 is times 10 minus one more.
- For percents, find 10% first, then build up: 15% is 10% plus half of it.
- Accuracy matters more than speed. One miss resets your streak bonus.
